What is SEO ?

What Is Search Engines Optimization (SEO) ? SEO is an initialized form of Search engine optimization. It is the process in which the search result page ranking of a website is enhanced in to improve its visibility.
Experts perform these optimizations by using various strategies, including the addition and utilization of keywords, specific details, backlinks, indexing, etc.
However, these optimizations are not as simple as adding a few keywords to a website’s content.
Search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and Bing all use web crawlers to search for web pages.
They visit web pages and check the site for various content, especially fresh content.
In essence, fresh content always ranks higher than old content.
An article written in the last 24 hours ago will be able to provide better optimizations than one written a week ago, even if the latter has better content.

Why is it Important?

SEO is primarily performed on websites in order to market the website. Various strategies improve the visibility of a website and hence increase the number of visitors that it receives.
This is exceptionally important when a new product or online business is released/launched.
A new product or business requires maximum exposure. SEO grants the business or product just that.
A website with many optimizations will rank high on search result pages.
If a user searches for “best hair product”, a website that has been optimized with those keywords will have a high SEO ranking.
Thus, it could and would likely appear on the first page.
As most people do not look past the first page, appearing on the first page is crucial to maximum exposure.

The Two Types

When talking about SEO, it is important that you realize that there are two different types of optimizations. These include white and black hat optimizations.
White hat optimizations are approved optimizations, whose usage is approved by search engines. This includes the addition of relevant keywords into text (within a certain percentage) and proper indexing.
Black hat optimizations can result in penalizations in the form of rank reduction.
It can also get a website removed from a search engine’s list permanently.
Such optimizations include hiding text, spamming text, relevant or irrelevant and cloaking.
Google removed BMW Germany’s website from their list when Google discovered the site was using black hat optimizations.
Search engine optimizations are a great way to increase the visibility of a website, business or product. The risk of rank reduction or even listing removal is too great and thus optimizations should be performed using white hat methods only.
